Travelling your dog in the car, which is the best way to do it?

Travelling your dog in the car, which is the best way to do it?

Dogs feel safer in confined spaces. If used to be in crates since little puppies they will travel in their crates in the car much easier then having them loose in the boot or in the back seat.
Some dogs suffer from car movement sickness, adding their movement if they are loose in the car can make things worst. Of course sometimes the size of the dog doesn't allow the use of the crate, but a big dog in the boot will move less then a small dog.

The important thing is to get them used to travel since very young, doing short trip or doing a lot of breaks especially if they have travel sickness.

Get them use that the car is a positive place, go in the car, feed some treats, and play with a toy, make the car a positive place for your dog to be. Do the same thing when the car is on and off, before you add movement. Do it even if you don't have to go anywhere, just to train some positive experience related to the car.

Some natural remedies can be used like Bach flowers (Rescue remedy) and Travel Blend essential oils to help with emotional and fiscal issues when related to travel sickness and anxiety.
